Grand Place-Grote Markt is one of the most visited places by both locals and tourists in Brussels. The plaza is surrounded by the city tower and a range of beautiful 300 year old buildings. Concerts and events are held there during summer nights.

Do not forget to get Belgian chocolate waffles, which is hot liquid chocolate on waffles in the little shops around the plaza, and Belgian Fries, which is a thick version of fries. It would not be difficult to find as you will see a lot of locals having them in hand while hanging around.

Just a short walk away from the Grote Markt is the Manneken Pis, the world-famous ‘peeing-child’ bronze statue, often used to symbolize Belgium. You can find many souvenirs in Brussels with Manneken Pis as the theme.

Atomium, Square de l’Atomium

The Atomium is one of the most important places representing both Belgium and Brussels, for its unique creation in the history of architecture and emblematic vestige of the World Fair in Brussels. You can find all sorts of exhibitions about futurism and ideology topics as well. To get there, take Metro line 6 and get off at Station Heysel-Heizel.

Parc du Cinquantenaire-Jubelpark

Located in the east side of the town is the Jubelpark – Parc du Cinquantenaire. Pay a visit at the Arc de Triomphe-Triomfboog and go up to the terrace above the arch, which provides you panoramic view over Brussels. Definitely a romantic place to visit during night time too.

Statue of Europe
The Statue of Europe, also known as ‘Unity in Peace’, is in the Bourse-Beurs region of Brussels. Located in the garden of Convent Van Maerlant, this sculpture symbolises peace and the unity of the European Union.
