Glasgow, the Metropolitan in Scotland
If you have never been to Scotland, Glasgow is a good starting point for you to explore the cultural rich part of the United Kingdom.
Glasgow, located on the River Clyde in the country’s west central lowlands, is the biggest city in Scotland and the third mostly populated city in Britain. The local dialect is known as Glaswegian, don’t get surprise if you would encounter some totally different accent than you are used to.
Since it is such a big metropolitan, Glasgow owns a wide range of shops as well as pubs and restaurants. You would not be disappointed even if you are looking for Haggis, the traditional Scottish dish with livers and other organs.

George Square
George Square is the central square in Glasgow City and is still the heart for many public gatherings, protests, concerts and festivities. The Glasgow City Chambers is also located there. You will also see different statues standing in the square. To name a few, these are Queen Victoria, Robert Burns and Robert Peel.
To get there, take bus, metro or train to the Queen Street Railways Stations.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a very popular place to hangout nowadays even for the locals. Admission is free for this museum in the West End of Glasgow. Its collection comprises of sculptures to fine arts by great artists like Monet, Van Gogh, Botticelli and Picasso. There are also sessions displaying the military collections and prehistoric relics.
Besides the Museum, you can also walk around the West End and have a cup of coffee to enjoy the art scene there.
Glasgow Cathedral
Glasgow Cathedral is the biggest, as well as the best preserved medieval cathedral in mainland Scotland. Surviving the independence war with England during 13 & 14th century,this cathedral located outside the city center next the Glasgow Royal infirmary is a must see for medieval artifact lovers. The scenary around the cathedral is also wonderful.
