The square of Rynek G?ówny (Main Marketplace)

The square of Rynek G?ówny is the world’s biggest medieval marketplace still surviving. Located at the heart of the Old City of Krakow, the square of more than 4 hectares space is a popular place for not only tourists but also locals to spend their free days. The square is now completely re-paved and having shops, restaurants and cafes, together with old churches surrounding it.

In the middle of the square, you will find the Gothic style Clock Hall (Sukiennice), which was built in the early 14th century. You can also find the Town Hall Tower in the square, which is now a museum allowing you to climb the stairs for a magnificent view overlooking the Krakow city.

Collegium Maius

The chollegium Maius is the oldest university building of the University of Krakow. It was built from 1364 to 1400 in Gothic style, with detailed decorated chambers and courtyard. Many renowned people like Pope John Paul II, Jan III Sobieski and Niclaus Copernicus has pursued their high-level education here. Currently the building comprises of a university museum displaying medieval instruments like the first globe with America, the instruments of Copernicus, etc.

Dominicans Monasteries & St Trinity Church

The Dominicans came in 1222 to Krakow and built the Romanesque styled St.Trinity church and the Dominicans Monasteries. Many important Bishop and Duke are buried inside the monasteries. The architecture in these churches are beautifully done, with renaissance cross ways and baroque paintings as decorations. Within the St. Trinity church, you will see a 14th century stone portal carved with floral motifs.
