The Moravian Karst: Geological Wonders From Czech Republic
The Moravian Karst or Moravský kras in Czech is a karst landscape that protected by nature reserve in the north east of Brno in the Czech Republic near the town of Blansko. On this region is also located one of the most important single geological feature in the Czech Republic which is Macocha Abyss, a 138 m canyon. It was formed when the ceiling of underground cave collapsed. Macocha Abyss is also the place where the River Punkva start running through the Punkvení underground cave system, and two small pools of water visible on the surface.
The Moravian Karst is a popular attraction for local tourist in Czech Republic. The Karst is visited by large number of tourists mainly during summer months. The Nature preserve also provide a well-marked bicycle trails and hiking path for the visitors to be explored.
