It is considered to be one the most beautiful castles in Central Europe, together with the Hradcany (Prague Castle) in Prague. Built on a lime hillock 228 meters above sea level of the Vistula, this Gothic castle has become a symbolic place for the locals.

The castle was re-built in 14th century and added the hen’s Foot tower (Kurza Stopka) and the Danish Tower. The castle was further refurbished in the 16th century by Italian architects, sculptors and German decorators, and soon became a renowned Renaissance palace in Central Europe.

Wawel Cathedral

Built around 1,000 AD, the Wawel Cathedral was destroyed and rebuilt several times. The current standing one in Krakow is established in 1322.  In 17th century, the interior of the cathedral was refurnished with a form of dome, supported by 4 pillars spreading across an alter where the silver coffin of St. Stanislaus lays.

Palace Biskupow Krakowskich

This Renaissance palace of the Biskupow Krakowskich gained its fame due to the fact that Pope John Paul II has been living there since 1963 as he was the bishop of Krakow. Pope John Paul II always stayed at the Palace when he visits Krakow as the Pope. The small window with a lot of candles and flowers around is the window that he used to gave religious talks.
